Cosmetic Solutions
This Could Be You

We offer numerous cosmetic treatments, but have not eliminated the less-cosmetic, time-tested procedures.

Porcelain Veneers
(before & after)

These typically consist of removing from nothing to a thin layer of the face of a tooth. Then a laboratory custom creates porcelain facings, for a new, ideal shape and color.  Veneers involve substantially less tooth removal than crowns ("caps") yet are still incredibly strong.

Studies routinely find a 96% success rate of porcelain veneers over 15 years.

Simply put, porcelain veneers are the most lifelike dental treatment available. Unlike the "cosmetic bonding" veneers of the past, made from tooth-colored filling material, porcelain veneers do not change color over time, and they shine and appear very natural.

Entirely Porcelain Crowns
(before & after)

Historically, crowns (also known as "caps") consisted of porcelain fused to a metal understructure. Though this metal is typically gold-based, other elements make the metal very dark. Over time, some of this metal may reveal itself, creating a very unattractive dark gum line around the crown.

Fortunately, technology has prevailed and now allows us to make entirely porcelain crowns, with no metal understructure. The cosmetic advantages of these crowns is tremendous, as you can see on the left.

You can clearly see the improvement at the gum line, but you might also notice how the original, metal-based crowns look "dead", or unnatural. This is a result of light not passing through the teeth because of the metal understructure. The entirely porcelain replacements interact with light very similar to natural teeth.

Bleaching/Whitening

("aging" stains before & after)

before whitening

after whitening

Dentist-fabricated Home Trays : Available since the mid-80's.  This involves fabricating custom trays with a reservoir in front of each tooth to hold a prescription bleaching gel. Typically you wear these trays while you sleep.

One of the advantages of this whitening process is that you can more accurately control the degree of whitening. It also provides the option for you to re-whiten in the future with only the minor expense of gel.

It has been proven to have no effect of making the enamel "soft" or weak in any regard. An occasional side-affect is increased sensitivity to cold for the 24-48 hours following the whitening process.

1 Hour : A one appointment procedure, providing a considerably quicker result than the dentist home tray whitening process. In our office, our 1-hour whitening process also includes the custom home tray whitening system. If we did not include the home trays, future whitening would have been an additional fee. In addition, I feel that the 1-hour portion only takes a patient 80-100% of their whitening potential.

Cosmetic/Bonded Fillings
(before & after)

Silver amalgam fillings have been in use for over 100 years, and  have been proven safe.  But there is no debate over their unpleasant appearance.

A cosmetic alternative are composite/bonded fillings.   These fillings chemically and mechanically adhere to the tooth and can be color matched to be essentially unnoticeable.  They also are typically performed in 1 appointment and harden instantly (no waiting period to eat & chew).

The main downside is that, because of materials and time, they are a bit more costly. However, the additional cost (as compared to silvers) is often less than $100.
